Hi, I’m trying to establish communication with an Applikon bioreactor controller [ez-Control] which is normally operated with proprietary software called BioXpert. We do not have a usable copy of BioXpert. Supposedly the controller will interface with non-proprietary SCADA systems (via OPC).

The bioreactor controller is in the same room with me and connected to my workstation by wired Ethernet. I can ping the controller, open Telnet to it, and watch packets on Wireshark.

But how do I send commands or view data? Do I need drivers? Do I need Matrikon’s Applikon OPC server?

Are there other people using RapidSCADA to run bioreactors?

    Hi,

What communication protocols are supported by the controller?
