Hi I am trying to connect to a Delta V OPC server and am running into some issues, so far this is what I have:
– 2 Machines on a local network, one running Windows Server 2008, one running Windows Server 2012.
– DCOM config setup on both machines.
– Applicable services run as the correct user account.
– Both machines on the same workgroup with the same admin usernames.
– Multiple OPC test clients work in both directions between the machines.
I am receiving an E_NETWORK_ERROR when trying to connect to the Delta V OPC Server but if I change the server to Matrikon Simulate server for example within Rapid SCADA config everything works. I have installed all the software along with different test clients on a laptop running Windows 7 as well and get the exact same issues. Maybe something with the Delta V OPC isn’t supported?
Thank you.April 11, 2018 at 12:14 am #3458MikhailModeratorHi,
Try this utility to test https://yadi.sk/d/d1UOUw153DcoDp Does it work?
When does E_NETWORK_ERROR occur? The OPC server also can be the cause of the problem. For example, we contacted with a developer on a one OPC server to append the proper implementation of all needed OPC methods. When he does it, connection was OK.

The E_NETWORK_ERROR occurs while attempting to connect to the server, one thing to note with the Delta V OPC server is that you install a program called OPC remote on the client device which has a service that runs through a remote machine (OPC server) and that is how you access the data. I have multiple third party clients connected through this server already it just seems like this one does not connect.
April 12, 2018 at 1:46 am #3470MikhailModeratorOh, did you install OPC Core Components? They are required.
April 12, 2018 at 2:13 am #3472AAllabyParticipantYes I have.
April 12, 2018 at 11:02 am #3475MikhailModeratorIn this case, if it’s possible, we should contact with the OPC server developers and works with the to fix the issue. I can assist you in email conversation. We did the same thing to fix another OPC server for BACnet (I forgot its name).

I have a similar issue connecting to CyBro OPC 3.0.6 server.
I can’t connect with Rapid SCADA (E_NETWORK_ERROR). I also tried the test client you provided and it hangs during connection (after I select an OPC server from the list and click Connect). But I can connect with the Matrikon OPC Explorer 5.1.3.0 and works fine.
Running all on same machine.
Help!
September 4, 2018 at 2:36 pm #4199MikhailModeratorHi,
Is it possible to contact a manufacturer of this OPC server? We could test the connection together. It may help to find the cause.
Does this OPC server support OPC UA?
September 5, 2018 at 10:00 am #4203zippoSloParticipantI will contact the OPC server manufacturer and ask about UA and the will to solve the problem together.
September 5, 2018 at 4:05 pm #4204MikhailModeratorYou can add me (info@…) to an email copy if needed.
September 7, 2018 at 5:55 am #4212zippoSloParticipantI switched to ModBus and it works. Having still some problems, but in 2 days I managed to make it work 🙂
It seems ModBus is a good solution for our purposes.
September 7, 2018 at 3:11 pm #4213MikhailModeratorClassic OPC is a black box, difficult to find a cause. Modbus is transparent.

I updated my OPC server and now I am getting the E Network error discussed earlier.
May I email you for some help troubleshooting the problem?
Thanks
RitaJune 8, 2019 at 8:57 am #5528MikhailModeratorHello,
Please provide more information:
1. What OPC server do you use?
2. Does it work before with Rapid SCADA?
3. Does it work before with Rapid SCADA on the same computer?
4. Did you install OPC Core Components?
5. Does Matrikon OPC Simulation server work on this computer?June 8, 2020 at 4:26 pm #6904suboythai12345Participant -
