Default properties for newly created channels

Hello Mikhail,

I am currently building a larger Rapid SCADA project with several hundred channels.

Many channels require the same configuration, for example:

– Input Formula (CnlVal/10)
– Display format
– Physical quantity and engineering unit
– Archive settings
– Event settings

At the moment I have to configure these properties manually for every new channel.

Is there a recommended way to define default properties or channel templates, so that newly created channels automatically receive these settings?

I am trying to establish a consistent project structure before creating a large number of channels.

I have found the easiest way to do this is to use the Tools/project tools/export table to export your channels to a spreadsheet (.csv). You have then copy the channel(s), change the channel numbers. Once finished save the spreadsheet as a .csv then use the import table to add the new channels. I did this for three large identical devices – make the first one with channel numbers 1000-1999, then copy and nake second one 2000-2999, thord one 3000-3999.

if the devices are the same, one is configured, then cloning with an indication of the device change. But if the devices are different, then we have sailed to manual labor 🙂

As a recap, possible solutions are
1. Cloning channels.
2. Export to CSV, edit in Excel, import from CSV.
3. Edit a table directly in XML.
4. Copy/paste cells by Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V.
