    Hello:

I am very new to Rapid SCADA and I am trying to set up a virtual network using this software. I created a VM with windows 10 installed and configured using the videos which worked great. I have a few questions.

    1. When you want to use different computers within a VM do you have to install the entire software or just a certain aspect on the computers communicating.

    2. I want a main SCADA, then a RTU or HMI connected to a certain sensor. I want to simulate just a small SCADA network and have them communicate with each other. Not sure how this is done using Rapid SCADA.

    Thank you,
    Dawn

    Hi,

    1. Please clarify the question.

    2. Do you mean using real devices or simulators?
There are 2 videos where shown how to simulate a Modbus RTU and OPC connected device.
It would be better if you provide a diagram of your system.

    Hi Mikhail:

These would simulated devices in a vm on different vm computers. The Modbus RTU and OPC connected device would be used.

    Main SCADA______RTU______Device
    ______RTU______Device

Both RTU machines would be attached to the main SCADA. I was reading up and it looks like we can use the Rapid Gate to communicate between computers. However, I am not clear if a full version of SCADA software would have to be installed on all VM machines.

    Thank you,
    Dawn

    Mikhail:

I forgot to ask you about a key that would be needed to use the Rapid Gate. How would this be obtained?

    Thank you,
    Dawn

    You have 2 options:
    1. Install on RTU VM only Communicator which connects to the Server app of the main VM.
    2. Install on RTU VM full Rapid SCADA and use Rapid Gate.

about a key that would be needed to use the Rapid Gate. How would this be obtained?

Buy permanent key or use free trial
