SCADA-Server and SCADA-Communicator have been ported on Raspberry Pi. SCADA-Web will be ported within this year. So you can easily create a home automation system.
Be free to ask any questions about using Rapid SCADA on Raspberry Pi here.

    Update:
SCADA-Web is also ported. Table views are supported. Scheme views are not supported because WCF on Mono has some restrictions.

    Good evening,

We are engaging on a project at National Technical University of Athens concerning a low cost, open source DAQ system. For the purposes of this project we chose the raspberry pi 2 platform , using modbus TCP for data communication and currently we try to choose the best open source SCADA software to use to our project to acquire data, visualize and and store them in an appealing and efficient way.

The raspberry will be used both as data server and as client.

So we would like to know if we could use the rapid scada software on the raspberry pi 2 platform and what problems we may encounter.

    Thank you in advance!

    Dear Tom,

I think Rapid SCADA perfectly fits your purposes. Of course you can use it.
Rapid SCADA has low hardware requirements, full features and stable.
Talking about possible problems, we have no enough statistics about working on Raspberry Pi because the appropriate version of the software was recently created.

The best way is to start using Rapid SCADA on Raspberry and interact with me in this forum to discuss and solve issues.

    Thanks!

The one of known issues – Raspi doesn’t contain real time clock. That’s why after reboot a system, SCADA may write data with incorrect timestamp. This issue can be solved by writing special script that starts SCADA after a clock sync.

As i can see from your first post , you mention that server side is implemented but client side is still to be worked out for a future release. Without client side implementation how data can be visualised for the end user?

Thanks and congrats on your hard work!!

Taking into account that we want both server and client side to be implemented on the Raspberryb Pi

The web application SCADA-Web can be deployed on any free ASP.NET hosting in the Internet or in your LAN. SCADA-Web connects to Raspi and retrieves the data.

Porting of SCADA-Web is under construction. You can wait for it or fork the project on GitHub and make the necessary changes.

My knowledge of web hosting or online applications is very limited, so i cannot fully understand your answer without some homework, sorry for this!!

So just to make it clear, till Scada-Web is ported to Raspberry, is there an easy way for us to have some graphic representation of the data collected via Modbus?

Could you tell more about the system that you are going to implement? The understanding of the aim helps me to suggest the best solution.

What we will try to achieve is using the raspberry both as a MCU for the data that we collect (energy and environmental parameters metering) from an ADC chip and also as a client. That is, the end-user will be able to just connect the raspberry to a screen and be able to see the data collected in a graphic way and also use the data from the databases for a later use.

So we would like the raspberry to be able to collect the data via modbus and then use the SCADA to store them in databases. Also via its web , or any other interface, to present them to the end user.

Also, i succesfully followed the instructions for installing the raspberry binaries but i cannot find a way to initialize a GUI, no entry is added to raspberry application menu and inside /etc/scada there is nothing to implicate a GUI launcher. Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Thank you

Sorry, I don’t get into the way of using GUI on Linux.
    Just install Midnight Commander
    sudo apt-get install mc
    and run the necessary scripts.
Also it is a good idea to use Putty to remote connection to your device.

I hope that SCADA-Web for RPi will be ready within a few days.
