    Mikhail ,
    Thats brilliant thank you .

I have written a stand alone program that now gets the RS232 data from the device and writes it into a text file like ‘mydata.txt’, its simple the text file just shows a single number like 22.3

Could I not just write a formula to read this ‘mydata.txt’ file into RapidScada and then return this number from the file or am I going about it the wrong way?

Maybe theres a driver to read a .txt file already ?

    Thanks
    Rich

    Hi Mikhail ,
seems my automatic part does not work .
I can send the command ok in Communicator .
    Here is my o/p channel

The formula I use to reset the unit at 56 seconds past midnight , I tested this on a dummy calculated channel and it works .

I know modified it to work on the o/p channel and it compiles ok but does not sent the reset signal on the o/p channel

I think i did something wrong around the Cmd command , can you help please .

    Kind regards

    Mikhail ,

Thanks it was my template as you suggested…. I had added the reset channel as a coil , but not under the ‘command’ tab . I have deleted this and added as a new command ‘1’ and now it works ..
    Thanks as always

    Hi Mikhail ,
About the scan times , my system is on a VM with a single CPU , this is showing high CPU usage 85-100% , could this be causing my delays ? …… what number of CPU’s would you recommend on a Windows VM machine , I have 9 Scada slaves each giving me 4 inputs .

    Thanks

    Hi Mikhail ,

Yes I’m seeing that now .
Nothing on the line is happening quickly so I may need to just look at extending the pulse from the sensors ……

Thank you for your help .

    Dear Mikhail
Can you give me some more detail please .
My pulse is less than 1 second , where do I set up the polling rate ?

    Thank You

Hi , the single pulse comes from a sensor at the begging of a process line .
The single pulse only feeds the Scada unit which sends it to the Rapid Scada program.

    Thanks

    Hi Mikhail ,
So looking at a custom report I would need to start by looking at the MinDataRep file for Chart and Chartpro , I will share with the forum if I can make it work .

    Thanks

    Hi Mikhail ,
You are correct Chart Plugin was deactivated , not sure why, I had not changed it ?
It is now showing the channel numbers in the Excel report , thank you so much.

Final point with this question I see you can make custom report requests with chart Pro can you have it so the Excel files shows the channel name or is it like the on screen ‘data’ field and just shows the channel number .

    Thanks again
    Rich
